Health and Safety is of paramount importance to us and we pride ourselves on our continued commitment to a policy of effectively managing all aspects of health, safety and welfare across our company.
We believe all accidents and injuries are preventable and we promote a culture where safety is an integral part of our decision making. After completing a rigorous health and safety assessment O’Briens is an approved CHAS Contractor. The Contractors Health and Safety (CHAS) assessment scheme is a national database of contractors who demonstrated compliance to a set of health and safety criteria in accordance with current legislation.
Our sites are inspected monthly by our dedicated H&S Manager in accordance with our Health and Safety Policy, written reports are distributed internally and to the Managing Director. These monthly inspections are complemented by weekly site visits by the construction director and aligned with regular tool box talks, daily activity briefings, site inductions, risk assessment and method statement briefings ensure we strive for continued improvement of health and safety across all our sites and activities.
Our Health and Safety Policy includes procedures on training, awareness and competence for all our employees. The aims are to provide all staff with the appropriate training and awareness according to their position, the work they undertake and their health and safety responsibilities. We expect our leaders to be visible and passionate champions for health and safety. They willingly accept accountability for the safety of everyone working in their teams, and consistently set high standards through their behaviour’s.
